Bristol Cheesemonger X Our Isles X Bookhaus

We were delighted to welcome Angus Birditt to Wapping Wharf to talk about his recent book A Portrait of British Cheese. This book is one of our favourites, not just because of its beautiful photography, but also its lovely recipes inspired by each cheese. Bookhaus kindly hosted and Corks of Cargo supplied the wine for the wine pairings.

We cozied up with a cheese board based around makers in Angus’ book and we even had an appearance from the legendary Juliana Sedli of the Old Cheese Room. It was such a lovely audience, and the Q and A spanned questions from farming, grass quality, pasture, cheese making and cheese makers.

It was great to hear more about how Angus found his way to the cheese community. Unusually it was through the sale of a wild garlic pesto. From here he met cheesemakers at markets and, like us, found they were a welcoming, friendly and open community.

Already looking forward to his next book!
